2023 October - 101 articles

Cover Story: This paper deals with the most general case of a rectangular matrix-variate distribution, where the exponential trace has an arbitrary power, and at the same time a determinant and a trace with arbitrary powers enter as multiplicative factors in the density function. Such a model is widely used in different disciplines, especially in communication theory in the analysis of multi-look return signals in radar usage. The normalizing constant, available in the literature and widely used, has been shown to be wrong. The correct normalizing constant is given in the current paper, along with the details of the techniques used in the derivation of the correct normalizing constant. Corresponding models belonging to Mathai’s pathway family, namely, matrix-variate gamma such as Gaussian, type-1 beta and type-2 beta, are also given in this paper along with their correct normalizing constants.
