Cover Story: Theoretical BIL/DL SFG spectra are deconvolved at the acidic air–water interface: DL-SFG reveals proton enrichment at the interface, while BIL-SFG invariance hides the chaotropic effect of interfacial protons. The proton-induced breaking of planar H-Bonds, connecting interfacial water in a 2-Dimensional H-Bond network, possibly explains surface tension decrease. View this paper.
