The journal retracts the article titled “Advances in Sweet Corn (Zea mays L. saccharata) Research from 2010 to 2025: Genetics, Agronomy, and Sustainable Production” [1], cited above.
Following the publication, concerns were brought to the attention of the Editorial Office regarding relevancy of citations and validity of the findings presented in the published paper [1].
In accordance with the journal’s procedures, the Editorial Office and Editorial Board conducted an investigation that confirmed that a significant proportion of the citations were not appropriately relevant to the subject matter of the publication and did not comply with MDPI’s citation policies. The Editorial Board further determined that the article lacked appropriate citations necessary to adequately support the reported findings. Although the authors were given the opportunity to respond, they were unable to satisfactorily address the concerns identified. As a result, the Editorial Board has lost confidence in the reliability of the findings and has decided to retract this publication in accordance with MDPI’s retraction policy.
This retraction was approved by the Editor-in-Chief of the Agronomy journal.
The authors have been informed of this retraction but did not provide a comment on this decision.
