Cover Story: For inertial microfluidic systems, fluid flow and inertial particle focusing are highly dependent on the channel geometry. Flexible microfluidic systems can provide modulation of the inertial focusing and separations of microparticles. Newly developed PDMS-parylene hybrid microfluidics provide adjustable 3D channel geometry that leads to tunable cell separations. The superior mechanical properties of the thin-film parylene layer allow the cross-sectional shape preserved under channel bending and internal pressures. View this paper.
