There was an error in the original publication [1]. The ORCID of Witold Robert Skrzypiński is not correct. It should be replaced with 0000-0002-6299-2717. The ORCID of Anna-Maria Tilg is also missing and should be added as 0000-0003-1702-8002.
We found an error in our data handling: rain data were set to zero for wind directions with error flags, even though the rain data were valid. This error resulted in valid rain being omitted from the computational code using Utsira data in the original publication [1]. Ásta Hannesdóttir recalculated the Utsira station.
A correction has been made to “Results on Site-Specific Variability in Lifetime and Profit from ESM Operation”, paragraph number 8: “The averages were 0.40% for the North Sea stations, 0.50% for the Baltic Sea stations, and 0.63% for the inland stations (Table 2)” has been changed to “The averages were 0.33% for the North Sea stations, 0.50% for the Baltic Sea stations, and 0.63% for the inland stations (Table 2)”.
A correction has been made to “Results on Site-Specific Variability in Lifetime and Profit from ESM Operation”, paragraph number 9: “The average lifetime was 5.2 years” was changed to “The average lifetime was 4.7 years”. “Utsira had the second longest lifetime (13.3 years)” was changed to “Karup had the second longest lifetime (10.7 years)”.
A correction has been made to “Results on Site-Specific Variability in Lifetime and Profit from ESM Operation”, paragraph number 10: “The average lifetime for all North Sea stations was 6.7 years in default operation” was changed to “The average lifetime for all North Sea stations was 5.7 years in default operation”.
A correction has been made to “Results on Site-Specific Variability in Lifetime and Profit from ESM Operation”, paragraph number 14: “The average lifetime was found to be 19.8 years” was changed to “The average lifetime was found to be 17.3 years”.
A correction has been made to “Results on Site-Specific Variability in Lifetime and Profit from ESM Operation”, paragraph number 16: “There was some variation between stations with very low values for Weybourne and Utsira. This was consistent with long lifetimes at those two sites, such that AEP loss due to rougher blades was limited” was changed to “There was some variation between stations with very low values for Weybourne. This was consistent with a long lifetime at this site, such that AEP loss due to rougher blades was limited”. “Results using threshold rain rate at 10 mm h−1 and tip speed at 73 m s−1 for all stations was on average giving a profit at 0.77% default vs. ESM operation” was changed to “Results using threshold rain rate at 10 mm h−1 and tip speed at 73 m s−1 for all stations was on average giving a profit at 0.78% default vs. ESM operation”.
In the original publication, there was a mistake in omitting valid rain data from Utsira in Figure 7. The corrected Figure 7 appears below.
Figure 7.
The lifetime in default operation for each station in the North Sea, Baltic Sea, and inland.
In the original publication, there was a mistake in omitting valid rain data from Utsira in Table 2 as published. The corrected Table 2 appears below.
Table 2.
Calculated lifetime for each station for three cases: Ideal, default, and erosion-safe mode (ESM) operation. ESM is calculated with the same threshold values for all stations. Annual Energy Production (AEP) (in GWh) for ideal blades and AEP loss (in %) between ideal blades and default operation are listed.
In the original publication, there was a mistake in omitting valid rain data from Utsira in Figure 9 as published. The corrected Figure 9 appears below.
Figure 9.
The profit (in %) from ideal blades and profit from site-specific optimized erosion-safe mode (ESM) compared to the default case for each station.
In the original publication, there was a mistake in omitting valid rain data from Utsira in Table 3 as published. The corrected Table 3 appears below.
Table 3.
The profit (in %) for ideal vs. default operation, profit for erosion-safe mode (ESM) with the same threshold values for all stations vs. default operation, and profit for ESM with site-specific optimization vs. default operation.
A correction has been made to “Results on Site-Specific Variability in Lifetime and Profit from ESM Operation”, paragraph number 18: “Erosion caused 1.41% profit loss for the 18 stations. In case site-specific optimized ESM operation would be performed, the profit for all 18 stations was 0.98%” was changed to “Erosion caused 1.42% profit loss for the 18 stations. In case site-specific optimized ESM operation would be performed, the profit for all 18 stations was 1.01%”.
A correction has been made to the “Discussion”, paragraph number 6: “At Utsira, a long lifetime is calculated (13.3 years)” was changed to “At Utsira, a long lifetime is calculated (5.0 years)”.
A correction has been made to the “Conclusions”, paragraph number 8: “Utsira’s lifetime (13.3 years) calculated from a time series of 3.3 years may also be over-predicted” was changed to “Utsira’s lifetime (5.0 years) calculated from a time series of 3.3 years may also be over-predicted”.
A correction has been made to the “Conclusions”, paragraph number 10: “The loss in profit due to LEE is on average 1.51% for the Danish and German North Sea stations, and 1.35% for the Baltic Sea stations comparing to ideal blades with infinite lifetime” was changed to “The loss in profit due to LEE is on average 1.23% for the Danish and German North Sea stations, and 1.35% for the Baltic Sea stations comparing to ideal blades with infinite lifetime”.
