Dual-active bridge (DAB) converters have emerged as a preferred topology in electric vehicle charging and energy storage applications, owing to their structurally symmetric configuration and intrinsic galvanic isolation capabilities. However, conventional triple-phase shift (TPS) control strategies face significant challenges in maintaining high efficiency across ultra-wide output voltage and load ranges. To exploit the inherent structural symmetry of the DAB topology, a symmetric optimization strategy based on triple-phase shift (SOS-TPS) is proposed. The method specifically targets the forward buck operating mode, where an optimization framework is established to minimize the root mean square (RMS) current of the inductor, thereby addressing both switching and conduction losses. The formulation explicitly incorporates zero-voltage switching (ZVS) constraints and operating mode conditions. By employing the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker (KKT) conditions in conjunction with the Lagrange multiplier method (LMM), the refined control trajectories corresponding to various power levels are analytically derived, enabling efficient modulation across the entire operating range. In the medium-power region, full-switch ZVS is inherently satisfied. In the low-power operation, full-switch ZVS is achieved by introducing a modulation factor λ, and a selection principle for λ is established. For high-power operation, the strategy transitions to a conventional single-phase shift (SPS) modulation. Furthermore, by exploiting the inherent symmetry of the DAB topology, the proposed method reveals the symmetric property of modulation control. The modulation strategy for the forward boost mode can be efficiently derived through a duty cycle and voltage gain mapping, eliminating the need for re-derivation. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed SOS-TPS strategy, a 2.3 kW experimental prototype was developed. The measured results demonstrate that the method ensures ZVS for all switches under the full load range, supports ultra-wide voltage conversion capability, substantially suppresses RMS current, and achieves a maximum efficiency of 97.3%. The LLC resonant converter, as an isolated DC-DC conversion topology, has been widely adopted in industrial applications. However, when operating under wide input/output voltage ranges, a broad switching frequency range is required to achieve the desired voltage gain. This wide frequency variation complicates the design of magnetic components, causes loss of soft-switching characteristics, and deteriorates electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance. To address these challenges, this paper presents a detailed analysis of the L-LCLC resonant converter. By controlling the connection/disconnection of additional inductors and capacitors through switching devices, the topology achieves structural reconfiguration to enhance the voltage gain range. Optimal mode transition points are selected to ensure stable operation during mode transitions, thereby reducing design complexity, minimizing transition losses, and suppressing voltage/current stress. The parameter design methodology for the additional reactive components is systematically developed. The converter’s performance is validated with Simulink, and the experimental prototype is established with 100 W. Both simulation and experimental results confirm that the L-LCLC resonant converter achieves a wide voltage gain range within a narrow frequency band while maintaining stable mode transitions. This study presents an adaptive sliding mode control strategy tailored for robotic manipulators, featuring a quasi-convex function-based control gain and a time-delay estimation (TDE) enhanced by neural networks. To compensate for TDE errors, the proposed method utilizes both the previous TDE error and radial basis function neural networks with a weight update law that includes damping terms to prevent divergence. Additionally, a continuous gain function that is quasi-convex function dependent on the magnitude of the sliding variable is proposed to replace the traditional switching control gain. This continuous function-based gain has effectiveness in suppressing chattering phenomenon while guaranteeing the stability of the robotic manipulator in terms of uniform ultimate boundedness, which is demonstrated through both simulation and experiment results. The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is a critical device that converts kinetic energy into mechanical energy. However, it faces issues such as nonlinearity, time-varying uncertainties, and external disturbances, which may degrade the system control performance. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a prescribed performance model-free adaptive fast integral terminal sliding mode control (PP-MFA-FITSMC) method. This approach replaces conventional techniques such as parameter identification, function approximation, and model reduction, offering advantages such as quantitative constraints on the PMSM tracking error, reduced chattering, strong disturbance rejection, and ease of engineering implementation. The method establishes a compact dynamic linearized data model for the PMSM system. Then, it uses a discrete small-gain extended state observer to estimate the composite disturbances in the PMSM online, effectively compensating for their adverse effects. Meanwhile, an improved prescribed performance function and error transformation function are designed, and a fast integral terminal sliding surface is constructed along with a discrete approach law that adaptively adjusts the switching gain. This ensures finite-time convergence of the control system, forming a model-free, low-complexity, high-performance control approach. Finally, response surface methodology is applied to conduct a sensitivity analysis of the controller’s critical parameters. Finally, controller parameter sensitivity experiments and comparative experiments were conducted. In the parameter sensitivity experiments, the response surface methodology was employed to design the tests, revealing the impact of individual parameters and parameter interactions on system performance. In the comparative experiments, under various operating conditions, the proposed strategy consistently constrained the tracking error within ±0.0028 rad, demonstrating superior robustness compared to other control methods. In recent years, to achieve “dual carbon” goals, increasing the penetration of renewable energy has become a critical approach in China’s power sector. Power electronic converters play a key role in integrating renewable energy into the power system. Among them, the Dual Active Bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter has gained widespread attention due to its merits, such as galvanic isolation, bidirectional power transfer, and soft switching. It has been extensively applied in microgrids, distributed generation, and electric vehicles. However, with the large-scale integration of stochastic renewable sources and uncertain loads into the grid, DAB converters are required to operate over a wider voltage regulation range and under more complex operating conditions. Conventional control strategies often fail to meet these demands due to their limited soft-switching range, restricted optimization capability, and slow dynamic response. To address these issues, this paper proposes a multi-mode switching optimized control strategy for the three-port DAB (3p-DAB) converter. The proposed method aims to broaden the soft-switching range and optimize the operation space, enabling high-power transfer capability while reducing switching and conduction losses. First, to address the issue of the narrow soft-switching range at medium and low power levels, a single-cycle interleaved phase-shift control mode is proposed. Under this control, the three-phase Dual Active Bridge can achieve zero-voltage switching and optimize the minimum current stress, thereby improving the operating efficiency of the converter. Then, in the face of the actual demand for wide voltage regulation of the converter, a standardized global unified minimum current stress optimization scheme based on the virtual phase-shift ratio is proposed. This scheme establishes a unified control structure and a standardized control table, reducing the complexity of the control structure design and the gain expression. Finally, both simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed multi-mode optimized control strategy. Full article

In order to achieve a long-pulse-width output, a new long-pulse-width modulator based on the charging power supply of LCC-type high-frequency resonant converters and the pulse-generating unit in series IGBT switching technology has been designed. The relationship between the resonant cavity gain and the switching frequency has been derived. In the charging phase, the critical intermittent control mode is used to increase the charging speed, and in the voltage stabilization phase, the hysteresis burst control strategy is used to improve voltage accuracy. The simulation results show that the output pulse amplitude is 10 kV, the pulse width can reach 650 μs, and the top-drop is about 12%. Thus, a long pulse width modulator is developed. The output pulse voltage can reach 4 kV, and the output pulse width is 650 μs. The power supply reduces the capacity of the energy storage capacitor, which has industrial application value. This paper introduces a high-efficiency buck converter designed for a wide load range, targeting low-power applications in medical devices, smart homes, wearables, IoT, and technology utilizing WiFi and Bluetooth. To achieve high efficiency across varying loads, the proposed converter employs a low-power adaptive on-time (AOT) controller that ensures output voltage stability and seamless mode transitions. An adaptive comparator (ACP) with variable output impedance is introduced, offering a variable DC gain and bandwidth to be suitable for different load conditions. A negative-level shifter (NLS) circuit, with its swing ranging from −0.5 V to the battery voltage (VBAT), is proposed to control the smaller power p-MOS transistors. By using an NLS, the chip area, which is mostly occupied by power CMOS transistors, is reduced while the power efficiency is improved, particularly under a heavy load. A status time detector (STD) block which provides control signals to the ACP and NLS for optimized power consumption is added to identify load conditions (heavy, light, ultra-light). By employing a 180 nm CMOS technology, the active chip area occupies about 0.31 mm2. With an input voltage range of 2.8–3.3 V, the controller’s current consumption ranges from 1.2 μA to 16 μA, corresponding to the output load current varying from 12 μA to 120 mA. Although the output load can vary, the output voltage is regulated at 1.2 V with a ripple between 3 and 12 mV. The proposed design achieves a peak efficiency of 96.2% under a heavy load with a switching frequency of 1.3 MHz. Full article

In this paper, a high-voltage chopper and ping-pong auto-zeroing operational amplifier was designed for industrial and automotive applications. Based on chopper stabilization, the proposed circuit introduces a novel chopper switch control signal that varies with the input common-mode voltage. This scheme effectively suppresses the reference offset caused by the chopper switches and prevents transistor breakdown under high-voltage conditions. Additionally, the ping-pong auto-zero structure was optimized by employing a six-channel parallel first-stage amplifier, which further reduced the charge injection and ripple introduced by the chopper switches. The amplifier was implemented using an SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation) 180 nm 1P5M BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) process with a chip area of 4.211 mm2. The post-layout simulation results show that, under a 55 V supply, the amplifier achieves an input-referred noise Power Spectral Density (PSD) of 6.2 nV/Hz and an input offset voltage of 32 μV, while the output voltage swings from 0.2 V to 53.4 V with a unity gain bandwidth of 3.2 MHz, which meets the requirements for high-voltage, high-resolution signal processing. In order to meet the demand for high-voltage architectures of 400 V and 800 V in electric vehicle systems, high-power DC-DC converters have become a key focus of research. The Four-Switch Buck–Boost converter has gained widespread application due to its wide voltage conversion range, consistent input and output polarity, and the capability of bidirectional power transfer. This paper focuses on the energy conversion requirements in high-voltage scenarios for electric vehicles, analyzing the working principle of this converter and typical control strategies. It summarizes the issues encountered under different control strategies and presents improvements. Hard-switching multi-mode control strategies aim to improve control algorithms and logic to mitigate large duty cycle variations and voltage gain discontinuities caused by dead zones. For control strategies based on controlling the inductor current to achieve soft-switching, the discussion mainly focuses on optimizing the implementation of soft-switching, reducing overall system losses, and improving the computation speed. Finally, the paper summarizes FSBB control strategies and outlines future directions, providing theoretical support for high-voltage fast charging and onboard power supplies in electric vehicles. This paper proposes a Boost + LLC converter-based power controller for ocean buoy tidal energy systems. To optimize output power across a wide input voltage range (40–120 V) and achieve effective power tracking control, we introduce two key innovations as follows: (1) a variable-mode inverter hybrid control strategy, combining smooth-mode switching with inverter control to enable wide gain range regulation. (2) An improved Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm, enhanced by integrating a PSO-based elite wolf search strategy preventing local optima and maximizing power capture. Saber and Matlab simulations demonstrate that the proposed approach yields faster power tracking response and increases output power by 5–10% compared to traditional methods. The combined controller and improved GWO algorithm provide a stable and efficient solution for small-scale ocean energy systems, offering practical insights for power regulation in other marine energy sources like wave, wind, and solar. In this paper, the uplink spectral efficiency performance of a massive MIMO system based on full-duplex relay communication is investigated in Rician fading channels. The relay station is equipped with a large number of antennas, while multiple source and destination nodes are located at both ends of the transceiver. Each source and destination node is equipped with a single antenna. The relay station adopts Maximum Ratio Combining/Maximum Ratio Transmission (MRC/MRT) and Equal Gain Combining/Equal Gain Transmission (EGC/EGT) schemes to perform linear preprocessing on the received signals. Approximate expressions for uplink spectral efficiency under both MRC/MRT and EGC/EGT schemes are derived, and the effects of antenna number, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and loop interference on spectral efficiency are analyzed. In addition, the impact of full-duplex and half-duplex modes on system performance is compared, and a hybrid relay scheme is proposed to maximize the total spectral efficiency by dynamically switching between full-duplex and half-duplex modes based on varying levels of loop interference. Finally, a novel power allocation scheme is proposed to maximize energy efficiency under given total spectral efficiency and peak power constraints at both the relay and source nodes. The results show that the impact of loop interference can be eliminated by using a massive receive antenna array, leading to the disappearance of inter-pair interference and noise. Under these conditions, the spectral efficiency of the system can be improved up to 2N times, while the transmission power of the user and relay nodes can be reduced to 1/Nrx and 1/Ntx, respectively. Pulse frequency modulation (PFM) is widely used in LLC resonant converters. However, in wide voltage applications, the switching frequency range is very wide, which affects the performance of magnetic components and filters. In order to achieve wide voltage gain in a narrow frequency range, this paper proposes a unified inductor type based linear resonant hybrid converter (UITBLRHC). The resonant inductor and excitation inductor are unified, and the resonant tank with equal inductance ratio is achieved. Hence, the output voltage can be adjusted within a very narrow frequency range. In addition, the parameters and operating modes of the two inductors are exactly the same. Therefore, the types of inductors can be reduced, and the magnetic flux and heat distribution between the two inductors are more uniform. Finally, an 800 W prototype was built. The proposed solution can achieve twice the voltage gain within a frequency range of 1.25 times. The experimental results prove the reliability and validity. Full article

To address the issues of poor stability and susceptibility to external disturbances in traditional model reference adaptive systems (MRASs) for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs), this paper proposes a sliding mode control strategy based on an improved model reference adaptive observer. First, the dynamic equations of the PMSM are used as the reference model, while the stator current equations incorporating speed variables are constructed as the adjustable model. Subsequently, a novel adaptive law is designed using Popov’s hyperstability theory to enhance the estimation accuracy of rotor position. A fractional-order system was introduced to construct both a fractional-order sliding surface and reaching law. Subsequently, a comparative study was conducted between the conventional integral terminal sliding surface and the proposed novel sliding mode reaching law. The results demonstrate that the new reaching law can adaptively adjust the switching gain based on system state variables. Under sudden load increases, the improved system achieves a 25% reduction in settling time compared to conventional sliding mode control (SMC), along with a 44% decrease in maximum speed fluctuation and a 42% reduction in maximum torque ripple, significantly enhancing dynamic response performance. Furthermore, a variable-gain terminal sliding mode controller is derived, and the stability of the closed-loop control system is rigorously proven using Lyapunov theory. Finally, simulations verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed control strategy in improving system robustness and disturbance rejection capability. Full article

In order to achieve precise vector control of permanent magnet synchronous motors and maintain reliability during operation, it is necessary to obtain more accurate rotor position and rotor angular velocity. However, the installation of sensors can lead to increased motor volume and cost, so it is necessary to use sensorless estimation of rotor position and angular velocity. The switching function of traditional sliding mode observers is a discontinuous sign function, which can lead to serious chattering problems and phase lag problems caused by low-pass filters. Therefore, this article proposes an improved fuzzy hyper spiral sliding mode observer based on the traditional sliding mode observer. Firstly, the observer takes the current as the observation object and uses the difference between the actual current and the observed current and its derivative as the fuzzy input. The sliding mode gain is used as the fuzzy output to tune the parameters of the sliding mode gain. Secondly, in response to the chattering problem caused by traditional sliding mode control methods, the hyper spiral algorithm is adopted and a sin (arctan(nx)) nonlinear function is introduced instead of the sign function as the switching function to achieve switch continuous sliding mode control, thereby suppressing the system’s chattering. Finally, the rotor position information is extracted through an orthogonal normalized phase-locked loop to improve observation accuracy. For time-varying nonlinear permanent magnet synchronous motor control systems, fractional order PID can improve the control accuracy of the system and adjust the dynamic performance of the system more quickly compared to traditional PID control algorithms. Therefore, fractional order PID is used instead of traditional PID controllers. By comparing simulation experiments with traditional sliding mode observers and fuzzy improved adaptive sliding mode observers, it was proven that the improved fuzzy super spiral sliding mode observer can effectively suppress chattering and extract rotor position with higher accuracy, a faster response rate, and better dynamic performance. This provides a new approach for the sensorless control strategy of permanent magnet synchronous motors. Full article

This paper focuses on the ship control system and studies the problem of unknown control directions. Considering that the traditional Nussbaum gain method has to consider the complex situation where the gain converges to both positive and negative infinity when proving the stability of a system, a unilateral Nussbaum function is defined in this paper. By constructing this function, the design and proof process of the adaptive Nussbaum gain method are simplified. Taking the ship course–keeping control system as the research object, a course angle tracking controller is designed by combining neural network, robust adaptive, and sliding mode control techniques. A dual-input RBF single-output neural network is used to approximate the uncertain part of the system, and the robust adaptive control is adopted to deal with the unknown disturbance. The simulation results at the end of the article show that when the direction suddenly switches, the overshoot of the system reaches 40%, and the adjustment time is approximately 3 s. However, the system can still adapt to the change of the control direction and maintain stability, indicating that the method proposed in this paper is reasonable and effective. And the proposed method can effectively cope with the problems of the unknown control direction and its jump, keeping the system stable, which has great theoretical and engineering application value.
