Methods and Protocols—Call for Special Issue Proposals
Methods and Protocols (ISSN 2409-9279; CODEN: MPERC6) is an international peer-reviewed open access journal aiming to establish and describe new experimental techniques in Biological and Medical sciences. M&Ps is published quarterly online by MDPI. Methods and Protocols has been accepted for coverage in Scopus. The website of M&Ps can be accessed here.
Methods and Protocols is calling for Special Issue proposals for the following topics:
1) Imaging and Microscopy:
- Recent advances in applied microscopy;
- Molecular imaging;
- Medical and biomedical image analysis.
2) Bioinformatics:
- AI in biological and medical science;
- Methods for data analysis and data processing;
- Medical and biomedical image analysis;
- Methods and protocols for “in silico” experiments;
- Deep learning and machine learning in bioinformatics.
3) Gene Editing:
- Recombineering technology;
- Cell/tissue engineering;
- Gene editing;
- DNA modification.
4) Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Practices:
- Drug screening and discovery technologies;
- Pharmaceutical analysis;
- Chemical aspects.
5) Single-Molecule Methods
6) RNA-Seq and Omics
7) 3D genome mapping and analysis methods
8) Chemistry:
- Methods for chemical analysis;
- Organic synthesis.
9) FACS
10) Mass Spectrometry, Hyperion, CyTOF, MALDI-CyTOF, MS–MS, etc.

The following information will be required upon submission: Special Issue Title, Introduction, Planned Paper list.
The duties and benefits of acting as a Guest Editors are as follows:
– To re-define the title and scope of this Special Issue.
– To make decisions on whether a manuscript can be accepted for publication based on the reports we collect.
– To promote the Special Issue and increase its visibility at related academic conferences.
– Full/partial waivers on the publishing fees will be granted for your first submission in this Special Issue.
Guest Editorship: 2–3 editors per team. Benefits include balancing the workload between the editors and the opportunity for internal discussion in case any controversial issues arise. Moreover, as the Guest Editors have different research networks, cooperation would broaden the coverage of the potential authors, thereby increasing the influence of the Special Issue. Once your proposal is approved, your priority will be to organize a team. The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief will review these co-editors to ensure they meet the journal’s editorial requirements. We encourage teams to include editors from multiple institutions and locations. This diversity reduces potential conflicts of interest and helps the issue to reach a wider audience.
