To further enhance the quality of Plants (ISSN: 2223-7747) and the papers published in the “Phytochemistry” Section, under the guidance of our Section Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Suresh Awale, the journal has updated and revised the information of the Section.

The “Phytochemistry” Section of the journal Plants is dedicated to publishing papers on all aspects of pure and applied plant chemistry, biochemistry, structure elucidation, and bioactivities of phytochemicals, plant cellular and molecular biology, and plant biotechnology. The Section aims to enhance our understanding of the analysis, biosynthesis, regulation, detection, extraction, separation, purification, and application of phytochemical compounds in whole plants (including algae), plant cells, tissues, organs, and plant products. Extract-level studies must meet rigorous standards, providing comprehensive chemical fingerprint profiles (e.g., NMR, HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS) with identified key compounds and relevant mechanistic details. Studies solely exploring biological effects of complex extracts, essential oils, or mixtures without chemical characterization, or those reporting basic assays (e.g., DPPH, total phenolics, cytotoxicity) without mechanistic depth, are outside the scope of the Section. In the “Phytochemistry” Section, original articles, rapid communications, and short review articles describing recent advances in specific areas of phytochemistry will be published. The Editorial Board will review all manuscripts submitted for publication in this Section. However, articles that fall outside the scope of the subject matter listed here may be referred to another Section of Plants. In particular (but not exclusively), this Section invites contributions that report on:
