MDPI Open Science Insights: Academic Publishing Workshop at the University of Zielona Góra, Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, 2 December 2025

In collaboration with the University of Zielona Góra, Sustainability, Agronomy, and Horticulturae are jointly hosting an Academic Publishing Workshop designed to educate attendees on MDPI’s paper publication process and the ecosystem surrounding open access publishing. The session will cover an introduction to Sustainability, Agronomy, Horticulturae, and MDPI journals as a collective, delving into the editorial process to provide valuable insights and instilling essential skills for structuring papers and replying to reviewers effectively. Additionally, participants will be instructed on methods to improve their scientific writing, with our expert speakers leading the way to ensure a thorough understanding of how attendees can improve their publishing potential.

Speakers:

Dr. Ksenia Shubenkova joined MDPI as an Assistant Editor in October 2021, later became a Special Issue Editor in August 2023 and currently serves as Journal Relations Specialist since May 2024 for the journal Sustainability. In the beginning of 2025, Ksenia joined the team of the new journal Biosphere also as Journal Relations Specialist. During this period, she had more than 145 online meetings with editorial board members, guest editors, and other collaborators and 36 in-person meetings so far. Dr. Shubenkova holds a PhD degree in transportation process organization, specializing in sustainable transportation. Before starting working for MDPI, she visited more than 25 international conferences as a presenter. During her tenure as a Representative of MDPI, she visited four conferences and also conducted four Academic Publishing Workshops in Poland and Germany.

Mgr. Klaudia Kasprowicz joined MDPI in October 2021, working at the Krakow office in Poland. She holds both a master’s and an engineering degree in forestry, specializing in the protection of forest resources, from the University of Agriculture in Krakow. Klaudia is also a PhD student in the safety engineering discipline, focusing on forest fire risk management. She began her journey at MDPI as an Assistant Editor for Agronomy and was later promoted to Section Managing Editor. For the past two years, she has been serving as a Journal Relations Specialist for the Horticulturae journal, and over time, she was also assigned to oversee the Agronomy, Arthropoda, and Poultry journals in the same role. During her tenure, Klaudia has conducted 198 online meetings with editorial board members, guest editors, and other collaborators, along with 35 in-person meetings held across various countries, including Germany, France, Poland, Romania, China, Greece, the US, and Italy. She has attended 14 conferences, earning the Senior Conference Representative Certification, and conducted five training sessions for authors in Poland.
