Cyber Risk Modelling and Insurance
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
As digital ecosystems continue to evolve, cyber risks pose increasing threats to both society and businesses. At the same time, traditional cyber risk models are being challenged by emerging developments such as generative artificial intelligence and growing cloud dependency. In this regard, the insurance industry, as a professional risk manager, faces significant challenges in enhancing its underwriting capacity for cyber risks. This Special Issue aims to explore the intersection of advanced cyber risk modeling and the rapidly evolving landscape of cyber insurance. We invite submissions that can address the development of robust frameworks for quantifying cyber risks, empirical and theoretical analyses of the effectiveness of cyber risk management strategies, and innovative approaches to cyber risk transfer.
Relevant topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- AI-driven evolution of cyber risks and corresponding risk management strategies;
- The effectiveness of cyber risk control measures and their impact on cyber loss frequency and severity;
- Systemic cyber risk and contagion mechanisms;
- Dynamic pricing and reserving models for cyber insurance;
- Alternative cyber risk transfer and the limitations of traditional cyber insurance markets;
- The role of cyber insurance in promoting corporate cybersecurity and risk management standards;
- Innovative underwriting approaches for intangible asset protection and cyber-related business interruption;
- Behavioral aspects of cyber risk, including moral hazard and adverse selection in cyber insurance markets;
- Optimal cyber risk retention and transfer strategies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs);
- Public–private partnership in managing cyber risks arising from state-sponsored attacks.
