Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Drought is one of the most significant and complex climate risks that affect crop yields, food security, and agricultural sustainability. Developing effective strategies to improve drought tolerance in agronomic crops through both agronomic and genetic approaches is essential. Key agronomic practices, such as optimized irrigation, soil management, and crop rotation, play a crucial role in alleviating drought stress. On the genetic front, identifying drought-resistant genes and developing drought-tolerant crop varieties are fundamental to mitigating the adverse effects of water scarcity. The most promising solutions for maintaining crop productivity under water-limited conditions lie in integrated approaches that combine genetic and agronomic strategies. This special issue consolidates knowledge and advancements in enhancing drought resilience and implementing effective mitigation strategies, with the goal of guiding future research and policy to foster global food security and sustainable agriculture in the face of growing climate variability and water scarcity. We invite research and review articles covering a wide range of topics, including drought tolerance mechanisms, plant physiological responses, advanced agronomic practices, genetic approaches, and both greenhouse and field studies, all aimed at enhancing our understanding of drought stress.
