Nonlinear Vibrations and Complex Dynamics in Mechanical Systems

This special issue belongs to the section “Vehicle Engineering“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

“Nonlinear Vibrations and Complex Dynamics in Mechanical Systems” represents a critical frontier in modern mechanical engineering, offering profound insights into the intricate behaviors of mechanical systems under dynamic loads. The evolving understanding of nonlinear phenomena has significantly advanced our ability to predict, control, and optimize mechanical system performance, leading to more reliable, efficient, and innovative engineering solutions. This Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research addressing the latest developments and emerging trends in nonlinear vibrations and complex dynamics, emphasizing novel analytical approaches, computational techniques, and practical applications. It seeks to establish a comprehensive platform for researchers and industry practitioners to exchange knowledge, innovative methodologies, and practical experiences in this transformative field. Potential subtopics for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:

Nonlinear Vibration Analysis: In-depth investigation of analytical and numerical methods for solving nonlinear vibration equations, focusing on mechanisms of bifurcation, chaos, and other complex dynamic behaviors to provide theoretical foundations for vibration prediction and control in mechanical systems.

Nonlinear Dynamic Characteristics in Mechanical Systems: Systematic analysis of the influence of material nonlinearity, geometric nonlinearity, and contact nonlinearity on dynamic system behavior, establishing high-precision multi-body coupled nonlinear dynamic models to optimize system stability and reliability.

Vibration Control via Mechanical Metamaterials: Exploration of nonlinear wave propagation and bandgap characteristics in multistable structural metamaterials, investigating their mechanisms for vibration suppression and energy dissipation, and developing novel adaptive vibration control technologies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Machines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
