Globalization and Financial Resilience in Transitional Economies

Special Issue Editors

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue explores the complex relationships between globalisation, financial risks, and resilience in transitional economies. Its goal is to enhance both theoretical and empirical discussions on how these economies respond to global shocks, handle vulnerabilities, and develop sustainable financial systems. We especially welcome contributions that use time series econometrics, black-box analysis, and other robust quantitative methods, as well as interdisciplinary views connecting economics, finance, and policy studies.

The Special Issue is part of multiple interconnected academic and policy efforts. In Autumn 2026, an Autumn School on Time Series Econometrics will be held in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. It will provide doctoral students and early-career researchers with advanced methodological training and access to applied data resources, such as Statista. This school aims to enhance quantitative skills crucial for analysing globalisation, financial integration, and resilience.

Simultaneously, a scientific conference on globalisation and regional resilience scheduled for May 2026 will gather scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to explore the practical effects of global interconnectedness, financial fragility, and regional adaptation strategies. This event aims to transform empirical research into insights that inform policy decisions.

The Special Issue is also backed by continuous bilateral research collaborations with Norway, Croatia, and Montenegro from 2025 to 2027. These partnerships broaden the geographic and methodological range of the study and promote international knowledge exchange.

Guest editors Sergej Gricar from the University of Novo Mesto and Stefan Bojnec from the University of Primorska in Slovenia invite high-quality submissions that critically analyse the challenges and opportunities globalisation presents for financial resilience in transitional contexts.
