Workplace Aggression

Dear Colleagues,

I am organizing a Special Issue on workplace aggression that will appear in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH). IJERPH is a peer-reviewed journal with a 2.849 impact factor that publishes a range of interdisciplinary articles concerning environmental health sciences and public health. Workplace aggression refers to “behavior by an individual or individuals within or outside an organization that is intended to physically or psychologically harm a worker or workers and occurs in a work-related context” (Schat and Kelloway, 2005, p. 191). There are different types of workplace aggression in organizations, including co-worker aggression, abusive supervision, subordinate aggression, and outsider aggression. Despite the serious negative psychological and health impacts that workplace aggression can have on employees, such as anxiety, depression, and a suppressed immune system, to name a few, research indicates that workplace aggression is common in organizations around the globe (Bowling, Camus, and Blackmore 2015). Thus, workplace aggression is a serious problem that deserves attention.

Within the last two decades, we have learned a lot about workplace aggression. Still, there are many understudied areas. This Special Issue in IJERPH is open to scholars in any discipline willing to explore untapped facets of workplace aggression. All types of methods are welcome. Below are some examples of topics that are of interest in the Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
