Air Pollution and Cardiopulmonary Health

Dear Colleagues,

Air pollution is a major environment-related risk factor for health across the world. The leading health outcome attributed to air pollution is cardiopulmonary effects, including respiratory infections, cardiovascular diseases, and lung cancer. The World Health Organization has announced that ambient air pollution contributed to 7.6% of all deaths in 2016. However, the mechanism linking air pollution to cardiopulmonary effects is largely unknown. Moreover, the studies of air pollution-related cardiopulmonary biomarkers, air pollution composition, and cardiopulmonary heath risk assessment, the association between air quality improvement and cardiopulmonary health promotion, and so on, are still limited. Therefore, we invite you to consider submitting your research for publication in this Special Issue of the journal, focusing on “Air Pollution and Cardiopulmonary Health”. The aim of this Special Issue is to communicate a selection of papers on the measurement, assessment, prevention, and intervention of air pollution induced cardiopulmonary effects among human subjects. In vitro and in vivo studies are also very welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
