Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue of the journal Healthcare, entitled “Focus on Surgical Infections in Surgical Critical Care”. Surgical infections remain a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in critically ill surgical patients, posing significant challenges to healthcare systems worldwide. In the context of growing antimicrobial resistance, evolving surgical techniques, and complex patient profiles, advancing our understanding and management of surgical infections is essential in improving outcomes in critical care settings.

This Special Issue will explore recent advancements, clinical practices, and innovative strategies for preventing, diagnosing, and treating surgical infections in the critical care environment. The scope of this Special Issue aligns with Healthcare’s mission to promote interdisciplinary and evidence-based approaches to clinical practice and public health. By focusing on this critical intersection of surgery and intensive care, we aim to offer meaningful insights for healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers.

For this Special Issue, we welcome original research articles and reviews. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Epidemiology and risk factors for surgical infections in the ICU;
  • Antimicrobial stewardship and resistance trends;
  • Novel diagnostic tools and biomarkers;
  • Evidence-based protocols for infection prevention;
  • Clinical guidelines;
  • Postoperative care and infection surveillance;
  • Case studies.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
