Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) remains one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Despite advances in pharmacological and non-pharmacological management, COPD continues to have a high global burden and significant clinical heterogeneity.

This Special Issue aims to explore contemporary challenges and opportunities in COPD management from a multidisciplinary and real-world perspective. Particular emphasis will be placed on mortality risk prediction, phenotypic characterization (including non-smoking COPD), comorbidity burden, and the role of primary care and health system organization in improving outcomes.

We welcome original research articles and reviews addressing the following topics:

  • Real-world evidence from electronic health records;
  • Phenotype-based therapeutic strategies;
  • Preventive approaches in early-stage or undiagnosed COPD;
  • Multimorbidity, functional impairment, and social determinants;
  • Innovations in integrated care and telemedicine.

This Special Issue encourages contributions from epidemiology, clinical medicine, public health, primary care, and digital health. Our goal is to foster evidence-based, personalized approaches to reduce the burden of COPD across healthcare systems.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
