Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Improving conditional and coordinated performance is not only important in elite sports athletes, as it becomes also crucial in restoring muscular and cognitive function in the rehabilitation and therapy of individuals with chronic conditions. Although we begin at a lower baseline value and must take care of injured structures, the effective restoration of function and structure becomes paramount after injuries. While existing treatment options, such as resistance training or physiotherapy, were effective per se, the therapeutic success seems to be diminished by the motivation for and lack of supervision of commonly performed programs on the one hand and often focuses on muscle-related approaches on the other hand. We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, which focuses on innovative and out-of-the-box exercise interventional studies to counteract these and further deficits of implemented therapeutical programs. We appreciate articles that address long-time neglected aspects (e.g., fascia, neurocognition) in addition to commonly focused abilities. In this Special Issue, original articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following: resistance and strength-oriented training, vibration training, electromyostimulation, flexibility training, balance training, neurocognitive training, injury prevention, immobilization, and neuromuscular impairments that were applied in rehabilitative and prevention settings.
Please note that we only process (randomized) controlled trials with high-quality methodological procedures for the peer review process.
