Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Industrial IoT (IIoT) serves as the foundational layer of intelligent industrial systems. With the integration of AI into industrial applications, IoT is evolving to exhibit increasingly intelligent capabilities. Sensors, networks, and cloud-edge devices in industrial settings are becoming more sophisticated, enabling advanced automation and decision-making.
The goal of this Special Issue is to showcase the latest advancements across all areas of Intelligent Industrial IoT (IIoT). We welcome contributions covering both theoretical and technical perspectives, as well as interdisciplinary approaches, that push the boundaries of IIoT innovation.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Smart Sensors and Sensor Simulation:
- Advanced sensor technologies, intelligent sensing systems, and sensor simulation methods.
- Cloud-Edge-Point Architecture and Industrial Applications:
- Distributed computing frameworks, edge intelligence, and real-time industrial implementations.
- Digital Twins for Smart Factories:
- Framework design, modeling techniques, and practical applications of digital twins in industrial settings.
- AI Algorithm and AI-Driven Networking Protocols for Industrial Environments:
- New AI algorithms used in industrial applications, and next-generation industrial communication protocols enhanced by AI and machine learning.
- Embodied Intelligence in Industrial Robotics:
- Autonomous robots, AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), and smart work cells with adaptive intelligence.
- Interoperability of Industrial Systems:
- Integration and compatibility across heterogeneous industrial platforms and equipment.
- Large-Scale AI Models for Industrial Software:
- Key techniques, frameworks, and applications of large AI models (e.g., LLMs) in industrial software.
- Industrial Code Generation: Theories and Methods:
- Automated code synthesis, AI-assisted programming, and best practices for industrial automation.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Future Internet is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
