Dear Colleagues,
Melanoma is considered one of the most deadly and aggressive forms of skin cancer, characterized by rapid progression, high chemo-resistant and metastatic potential, and significant therapeutic challenges. Over the past decades, advances in molecular and cellular biology have greatly improved our understanding of the genetic, epigenetic and signaling alterations that drive melanoma initiation, progression and drug resistance. Despite these advances, many aspects of melanoma cancer remain poorly understood, including the complex interaction between tumor cells and their microenvironment, the mechanism underlying resistance to existing therapies and the factors driving relapse and progression to more aggressive disease form.
This Special Issue aims to highlight recent discoveries that elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanism underlying melanoma development, progression, relapse and resistance to therapy. We welcome original research articles and reviews that explore key pathways and regulatory networks involved in melanoma biology. Topics may include (but are not limited to):
- Genetic and epigenetic regulation of melanoma;
- Tumor heterogeneity and its microenvironment;
- Melanoma stem cells and relapse;
- Complex interaction between tumor cells and immune system;
- Chemoresistance to current targeted therapies.
This Special Issue seeks to advance our understanding of melanoma pathogenesis and identify novel therapeutics targets. The goal is to contribute to improved diagnostic strategies and more effective treatment for melanoma patients.
We invite researchers to contribute their latest findings and invaluable research to this Special Issue.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
