Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The convergence of Semantic Web technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can revolutionize how we manage and utilize data. The Semantic Web aims to semantically enhance the World Wide Web by enabling the sharing and reusing of data across application, enterprise, and community boundaries. When combined with AI, which involves machine learning, natural language processing, and intelligent data analysis techniques, this integration can lead to powerful applications that are capable of understanding, reasoning, and making decisions based on vast amounts of heterogeneous data. The importance of this research area cannot be overstated, as it addresses fundamental challenges in data interoperability, knowledge representation, and automated reasoning, which are crucial for advancing various fields such as healthcare, finance, e-commerce, and beyond.
We are pleased to invite submissions for the upcoming call on Semantic Web Applications with Artificial Intelligence (AI). This call aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and experts from academic and industry backgrounds to discuss the latest advancements, challenges, and opportunities in integrating Semantic Web technologies with AI.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Semantic Web and AI integration
- Ontology engineering and knowledge graphs
- Machine learning and reasoning on the Semantic Web
- Semantic data annotation and linked data
- AI-driven semantic web applications in various domains (e.g., e-commerce)
- Evaluation and benchmarking of Semantic Web and AI applications
Authors are invited to submit full papers, it could be research article or a comprehensive review (given our commitment to maintaining the quality and comprehensiveness of our content). Please refer to the following webpage for paper types, specific instructions, and templates:

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
