Bioherbicides and Biostimulants from Allelochemicals Advances and Agricultural Applications

Phytochemicals, which are compounds that occur naturally in plants, have garnered immense interest due to their diverse biological activities and potential health benefits. Understanding these compounds and their interactions within plant systems is crucial to advancing our knowledge of plant biology and agriculture.

It has been shown that allelochemical compounds hold promise as an alternative to chemical herbicides and as a new source of biostimulants for enhancing crop production under stress conditions, contributing to sustainable crop management. Furthermore, the allelopathic effect of many allelochemicals has been confirmed in the literature. However, to our knowledge, few studies have focused on their application in agricultural fields. This Special Issue welcomes research contributions focusing on the use of allelochemical compounds.

The agronomic application of phytochemicals opens new avenues for sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices. By exploring ways to enhance the production of beneficial phytochemicals in crops, researchers can contribute to the development of crops that are not only more resilient to environmental stressors but also provide additional nutritional and health benefits for consumers.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
