Updating the Reference Style in Commodities

Department of Economics, College of Business and Security Management, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, AK 99775, USA
Clear and consistent referencing helps readers follow an argument, recognize its intellectual foundations, and locate the research on which it builds. With these purposes in mind, Commodities is adopting the American Psychological Association (APA) reference style.
This change is particularly relevant to a journal that brings together research in economics, finance, and commerce. Studies of commodity markets often connect findings across disciplines and examine how those findings develop over time. APA’s author–date citation system makes the authorship and publication year of cited works immediately visible, helping readers place evidence in context as they move through a manuscript.
For authors, adopting a familiar reference format should also make manuscript preparation more straightforward. APA style is supported by widely used reference management software, allowing authors to organize citations and format bibliographies consistently. Authors should consult the journal’s updated Instructions for Authors for the specific requirements when preparing their submissions.
Although modest, this change reflects our continuing attention to the presentation and accessibility of research published in Commodities. We hope that it will make the journal easier to read and contribute to a smoother writing experience for our authors. We thank our authors, reviewers, and readers for their continued contributions and support.
