Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Within the wider Covid context, this article examines the links of labour mobility and FDI and thus takes on a huge challenge of great complexity, given that so much has been written on all three components, and of course the most recent developments, too, are constantly changing and may need to be captured and built into the analysis.

I found the manuscript generally well-organised, but was put off by frequent instances of inadequate sentence structuring, as this certainly affects the reader's ability to concentrate on the highly complex subject and the plethora of facts produced by the authors. The text is accompanied by a large number of references, very appropriately so, and in some cases i found myself wanting to see even more references. In some places some updates may be advisable.

I would recommend a thorough revision of the text and have made quite a few comments in yellow on the document, indicating at times that a particular portion of the text may perhaps be transferred to a different part of the article, so as to enhance the flow of the text, which is not an easy article to read, but is full of very important information.

It is also difficult to understand, if the projected focus is ultimately India, why there was a need to introduce so much detail about so many other countries and scenarios.

Reviewer 2 Report

This paper investigates the relationship between labor mobility and foreign direct investment. It's an interesting topic as the current COVID draws to a close, especially at present, as many enterprises will migrate manufacturing from China to India or other southeast Asian countries.

1. The presentation is clear. It is better to number the charts in the context, such as the figure on page 2.

2. Check for some minor spelling errors.

3. Cite relevant papers published in recent years, especially in 2022, which would be more in line with the latest progress on the topic.

Dear authors,

I really appreciate the novelty of your paper, the quality of the presentation, the search that was done, also the significance of the content, which makes your paper to be of real interest to the readers.

Although, I want to make you some recommendations/suggestions in order to improve your work,  to increase the number of your own citations and also the journal's citations.

First of all, I suggest you use as references for your work only/especially/preponderant articles published in the last 1-3 years, maybe at most 5 years, and issued by journals listed or indexed in Q1, Q2, or Q3 of ISI/WoS/CA & SCOPUS.

Second of all, let's help the journal you are publishing in it, too, by making some references/recommendations related to your work, from its own articles, also.

I wish you all the best and a year full of accomplishments.

EG
