2023 June - 18 articles

Cover Story: Collecting, storing, and providing access to Internet of Things data are fundamental tasks for many smart city projects. However, developing and integrating IoT systems are still significant barriers to entry. In this work, we share insights on the development of cloud data storage and visualization tools for IoT smart city applications using flood warning as an example application. We deploy LoRaWAN sensors using The Things Network, and use Amazon Web Services to develop our cloud infrastructure. Our solution provides serverless data ingestion for sensor data backup, a relational database for data management, a graphical user interface for data visualization, and a RESTful API for programmatic data access. To support future IoT cloud application development, we share our system design insights and cost analysis. View this paper
