Reviewer 1 Report

Review of: An improved core-corona model for L and L polarization in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

The paper reports a model employed to describe the global lambda hyperon polarization.

Overall, the paper reads quite well, however here below there are some suggestions to improve readability and the discussion of the results.

In general, it is required to improve the connection between the figures and the text, as well as the description of the overall result. It takes too much time, reducing the focus of the reader, to follow which line or results one should look at in the figure. Sometimes not all panels are explained, and one can wonder why the figure is even there.

Also, not all information reported in the figures is explained, and this confuses the reader. Leave in the manuscript only the necessary figures and only what is necessary and discuss it clearly in the text. A better description of the figures and results in the text is required before publication.

L 3-4: The L global polarization has been used to estimate the vorticity of the system created in these reactions. --> this sentence does not seem necessary in the abstract. It is suggested to remove it.

L10: a high-density core and a lower density --> the high-density core and the lower density

L12: Both global polarization --> The global polarization

L14: Here we discuss --> Finally, we discuss

L15: why not CBM at FAIR?

L30: in p + p collisions -->proton-proton (pp) collision

L36: different mechanisms --> different mechanisms,

L44: Finally we comment --> Finally, we comment

L46: why not including CBM at FAIR?

L52: p+p --> pp

L54: their different hadronization mechanisms --> how is hadronization modified? Please explain in a sentence

L56: energy or centrality --> energy and/or centrality

L56: but also in the relative abundances of particles --> is it really just the multiplicity of produced particles playing a role?

If yes, is this somehow strongly correlated with centrality? in most central one has more particle produced wrt semi central. if you mean something more than just that, then i suggest specifying and differentiating more precisely what is meant here.

L58: In this scenario, --> in the core-corona scenario

L58: we begin by an account--> remove

L59: is given by --> defined as

L61: even if might sound obvious define also the meaning of the arrows in the equations.

L64: see comment above, please specify how hadronization differs in the two regions

L65+1(line number somehow breaks): we identify --> we define

L65+1: after eq 3 put a comma

L69: behavior --> dependence

L69: impact parameter is not defined, keep using centrality

L78: and is a monotonically decreasing function of the collision energy. It decreases monotonically with the collision energy

L79: On the other hand, the ratio 1/(1 + NLQGP/NLREC) is a monotonically increasing function of the collision energy. --> On the other hand, the ratio 1/(1 + NLQGP/NLREC) monotonically increases with the collision energy.

L80: refer to the colour of the line in the plot. Make it easy to follow.

L81: where these functions --> where these ratios

L81: as is shown in Fig. 2. --> please specify in the text at which energy this is happening.

L82: function peaks --> which function? at which line in the plot are you referring here? when describing a figure would be nice to have in the text a reference (maybe using colour or a different line style) to which function one should look at.

L87: As is shown in Fig. 3, --> please specify the panel. Make the description of the figure more followable.

L88: 10GeV), --> missing space

Fig 3:

-       Do you need to report the right panel? It does not seem even described in the text. Or you extend the description of the figure in the text, or many things seem cryptic, not really clear, and not explained.

Fig4:

-       there are several pieces of information in the figure which are not explained and clear to the reader. Please make the figure clearer and remove information that are not necessary. For instance: c = 0.0025, < b > = 8.73, Rau = 6.554 fm, a = 0.523 fm --> or you specify in the text what all those numbers are, or you simply the picture.

-       Caption: Shaded areas correspond to the regions delimited by fits to the QGP lifetime and volume from Eq. (A11) --> move this sentence to the main text.

-       Explain precisely in the text what the bands on the model represent and how they are estimated.

L112: p + p --> pp (please change this everywhere)

L117: centrality bins --> centrality intervals

L121: p + p --> pp (please change this everywhere)

Fig5:

-       Explain in the text what the bands on the model represent. see comments in fig 4

-       Is it understood the decrease of the model for more peripheral collisions? Can the explanation be extended in the text?

Hyperon global polarization is an important observable to study the system

created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, a simple core-corona model

has been developed to quantify well the global polarization of Lambda and anti-Lambda as a function of beam energy. One question related to these studies is that the critical density of participants used in the present study is 3.3 fm^-2, it is necessary to if the critical density changes into 0.5 GeV/fm^3, the results  in the present study are still hold, i.e., if there large difference for the results shown in Figure 4 and 5?
