The expansion usage of the Internet, especially social media, has extended customers options for gathering products and services information by including other customers' comments and opinions posted on the Internet. Customers are able to share their experience, perception, and advice by involving in electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) on their social media and websites that facilitate reviewing of consumer’s experiences, which can be reached by their friends and other potential customers. This study reviews literature related to eWOM, brand attitude, brand image, brand loyalty, and their implication on the willingness to pay premium ticket price in the context of the low-cost airline industry in Thailand. Existing literature presented that eWOM, as well as, brand image have positive influences on customer’s repurchase intention. In addition, brand attitude and brand loyalty also influence customers’ intention to buy for a particular product. This leads to the motivation to formulate a conceptual framework to explore the relationships between the mentioned independent variables on the willingness to pay more on airline ticket price. This conceptual framework also suggests methodology and sample groups for further research investigation. Full article

Currently, Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) and Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI) have a co-operation on a project of developing a satellite for scientific research called Thai Space Consortium (TSC). The project is aiming at Earth remote sensing mission by a small satellite about 100 kg. The main payload of the satellite is an optical instrument with the secondary payload of energetic particle detector for space weather. The satellite is designed to be in a Sun Synchronous orbit due to requirement of same light condition throughout the operational lifetime. In the meantime, there is another project by GISTDA named THEOS-2. This project consists of two remote-sensing satellites, THEOS-2 MainSAT and THEOS-2 SmallSAT, under the development in Europe. The SmallSAT does not have the propulsion subsystem. So it cannot perform station-keeping maneuvers or maintain constellation with others. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze two scenarios that the TSC satellite flies as constellations with the MainSAT of THEOS2 project. The constellation is in the sense that the TSC satellite flies on the same ground track path with the MainSAT satellite with slightly differences in local solar time. The ground track sequencing is presented with a methodology for obtaining orbital parameters with a discussion on accuracy relating to Keplerian assumption. Full article

This paper presents the spring drive launcher for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or UAV. Due to the absence that the UAV required large area for taking-off. However, to achieve the solution for this problem, we design spring drive launcher to bring the UAV up to the sky. The launcher allows the user to exceed the limit of take-off area and gives the highest initial velocity as possible. The research consists of the related theories which are Mechanical design, Engineering drawing, and Aerodynamic principles. Spring Drive launcher will be assembled by basic materials that must be made in order to get the prototype to be tested for achieving the goal. The results of the launcher will generate the constant force exerting on the launched UAV so it will reduce the risks for launching UAV multiple times. Besides the research can be carried on for the one who has the interest on the Spring Drive launcher. Full article

Land use planners require a time series land resources information and changing pattern for future management. Therefore, it is essential to assess changes in land cover. This study was to quantify the spatio-temporal dynamics of land use change over North and West Africa between 1985 and 2015 using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) from the Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR). The total investigated area was determined by 17,328,557.16 km2. The class of Urban and Built-up, Barren or sparsely vegetated, Savannas and Deciduous Broadleaf Forests increases considerably during the last three decades. In contrast, the class of Open Shrublands, Woody Savannas and water decrease notably during the three decades. The class of croplands decreases from 1985 to 1995 and increased from 1995 to 2015. The class of grasslands recorded a first increase from 1985 to 1995, and then decreased from 1995 to 2015. The class of permanent wetlands first decrease from 1985 to 1995, then increase from 1995 to 2005, followed by a decreasing trend during the last decade. The class of evergreen broadleaf forests decreased in the first two decades, from 1985 to 2005, and increased over the last decade. Full article

Light sport aircraft builders widely construct experimental aircraft for their personal enjoyment for both building and flying purposes. A variety of engines are used as powerplants for their aircraft. The Volkswagen (VW) automotive engine is one of the most reliable engine conversions for amateur-built aircraft. The aim of this paper is to investigate the cylinder head temperature of the VW-Aero conversion engine during flight conditions by using CFD. The models of the front and rear cylinder barrels include a cylinder head which is constructed with the addition of a baffle plate and air inlet design shape based on internal air flow patterns. The simulations were performed at a velocity of between 50–100 kt (58–115 mph) at a flying altitude of 6,000 feet as per typical flight conditions. The results showed that the rear cylinder lacked cooling air because it was obstructed by a front cylinder. The rear cylinder encountered heat soak conditions which resulted in higher temperature when compared with what the front cylinder experienced. At a velocity of below 80 kt (92 mph), the incoming air velocity through the engine air duct was inadequate to maintain the engine cylinder’s head temperature so that it rises above a normal operating temperature range. At a velocity of above 80 kt (92 mph), the internal baffle plate was capable of feeding air through the controlled path between baffle plate and cylinder fin, which consequently resulted in a controllable engine cylinder barrel and head temperature to be within the normal operating temperature range. The aircraft flying at a velocity of less than 80 kt (92 mph) and equipped with a VW engine would be likely to experience an overheated engine problem due to insufficient cooling air. Full article

This paper proposes an approach to synthesize a high-lift mechanism (HLM) of a transportation aircraft. Such a mechanism is very important for generation of additional lift to an aircraft wing during take-off and landing. The design problem is minimization of error between the motions of a four-bar mechanism for controlling a flap to the target points. The optimum target points are positions and angles of flap at the take-off and landing conditions, which are designed based on maximizing the lift to drag ratio. Design constraints include the conditions of four-bar mechanism to work properly, limiting positions and workplace of the mechanism. A optimizer used in this study, is in a group of metaheuristics (MHs). The results show the optimum mechanism can generate flap motion fulfilling the design targets, thus, the proposed technique can be used to increase the performance of HLM. Full article

A flight attendant has an irregular working schedule that requires to travel across different time zones, which affects their circadian rhythms and challenges the body to resynchronize with the local environment of the destination. Since human capabilities are considered critical factors that have an impact on safety in aviation, an accumulation of sleep debt over time can result in (1) impaired performance from fatigue and decreased alertness (2) increase the likelihood of forgetfulness, which can lead to the adverse in-flight operation safety. This study aimed to examine the sleep quality and to explore the sleep patterns of Thai Airways flight attendants. The PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index), a subjective measure of sleep, was adopted to recruit flight attendants with sleep difficulty. Two male and two female flight attendants who had the highest PSQI scores at 18, 18, 16, 15 of the total score 21 were selected, whereas lower scores under 5 denote a healthier sleep quality. Besides, Fitbit, an external sleep tracker device, was worn on individuals’ wrist for seven nights. Fitbit application on their smartphone created seven photos of each flight attendant, of which some show unusual sleep patterns that might associate with their working lifestyle and sleep habits. With extended reality (XR) technology on the rise in aviation education, we evaluated the perceptions of Thai students on an inexpensive and classroom-friendly virtual reality (VR) system and software combination, as an introduction to flying an aircraft. In addition to cost-effectiveness, consumer grade technology also provides greater portability than traditional full-flight simulators. Third year aeronautical engineering and commercial pilot undergraduate program international students were exposed to a brief VR experience using a PlayStation 4 console (PS4) with PlayStation VR (PSVR) and Ultrawings software. Subsequently, in-depth qualitative interviews were analyzed via thematic coding. The student responses were mostly positive and enthusiastic, but also identified issues with hardware and software (screen door effect, limited peripheral vision, less than optimal interaction controls, and lack of haptic feedback). Using thematic coding, responses were categorized into; head mounted device, controls and controllers, plausibility illusion, place illusion, embodiment illusion, academic value and entertainment value. Following respondents’ positive responses on certain identified critical points, we recommend further study using other hardware and software combinations. Full article

Presently, the growing challenge of Reverse Logistics (RL) transportation has broadly received attentions in supply chain management area from both scholars and practitioners. When products have reached their end-of-life they have to enter into reverse chain for the purpose of either recycling, repair, re-manufacturing, or re-use. As a matter of fact that the cost of transporting products through a reverse supply chain is often higher than moving the original product from the manufacturer to the consumer. A well-organized reverse logistics network especial transportation can lead to save cost, increase revenue and customer satisfaction. The optimized reverse logistics transportation is one of the crucial tasks for enterprises to gain the competitive advantage from their supply chain network. This paper aims to optimize the transportation cost of end-of-life lead- acid batteries between the recycle consolidation centers and smelting manufacturers. A Linear Programming (LP) model was formulated in order to solve the transportation problem. The two scenarios of transportation service fees (cost per volume versus cost per trip) were comparison. The proposed approach was applied to real case in central region of Thailand. The numerical experiments was executed to minimize the transportation cost of the system on both scenarios. In term of total transportation cost of system, the result from this study indicated that cost per volume scenario is lower than cost per trip scenario. Full article

The survival rate of the patients in medical emergencies depends on the minimize ambulance arrival time on-sites and promptly provides medical care to the patients. Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances play a critical role in reducing the fatal and severity rate of emergency patients. The several areas in big cities always encounter with traffic congestion, which is a significant obstacle for ALS ambulances to achieve their service time window target (predetermine as less than 8 min). In light of prior research, arranging appropriate parking locations can solve such a problem. This study proposes a mathematical model of facility location problem to identify the ALS ambulances parking locations. This paper simultaneously considers the minimize of the total number of ALS ambulance parking locations while covering the service areas and service time window are fulfilled. One part of business centers in Bangkok was chosen to correct the data and test the proposed model. This study is distinguished from others in these areas by the only possible parking places, i.e., schools, temples, police stations, and gas stations, which are taking into consideration. IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio Version 12.6.1 was utilized to solve the problem. The result indicates that there are 26 parking locations, which can enable the service coverage areas. As well as achieve a 54% service time window target. Full article

In near future, commercial companies have proposed to launch the extreme large constellation of small to medium-sized satellites over new 20,000 satellites in orbit. As a result, satellite operators will face a new challenge and have to prepare some solutions to mitigate huge potential collision risks. Under current practices, operators receive collision warning messages (Conjunction Data Messages: CDMs) generated by the Combined Space Operations Center (CSpOC). It is possibly to receive huge conjunctions that exceed warning threshold control each day but many of them are false conjunctions because the result of a combination of inaccuracies in the sensor measurements, predicting error and especially inadequacy of satellite information (e.g., GPS data and satellite size) To reduce the false CDMs and effectively mitigate the potential risk in time, space traffic management system can minimize the problems. The key system capabilities are able to automatically screen potential risky objects and provide an analysis tool to decide effective maneuver planning. As a result, GISTDA initiates the project to develop the space traffic management system known as “ZIRCON” to monitor and mitigate the risk of GISTDA’s satellites and future satellites (e.g., THEOS2 project). This paper presents the operational collision avoidance process and algorithm analysis of space traffic management system. The accuracy of analysis results is validated by comparing the analyzed results of CSpOC and Space Data Association (SDA) serving the commercial space sector to monitor and provide warning message for membership. The last section describes the future development planning and services for satellite operators. Full article

Sandwich structures are widely used in aeronautics both for primary and secondary structures such as landing gear doors, flaps or floors. Multi-cores materials sandwich structures presents many advantages. By adding layers with another materials that the core one, extra properties can be obtained as heat or impact protection. Manufacturing quality must be controlled and therefore bonding needs to be inspected. In this paper bonding defects between multi-layers of sandwich specimen are inspected through Non Destructive Tests. Due to its large use in industry, ultrasonic phase array is used to detect manufacturing bonding defects. Three different type of multi-cores materials specimen are investigated. Results show that due to the high PVC foam porosity, defects cannot be detected both between composite skins and foam and between foam and core material. Full article

Today’s food supply chain is incredibly complex and imposes enormous challenges across the Globe. Products are transported through multimodal transportation internationally, comprising of combination of ship, rail, truck and flight modes etc. The supply chain under multistage network poses more quality related issues. Hence, blockchain technology helps to enhance food safety and quality in the logistics process. This, when coupled with the existing traceability system can create more agile value chain and closer customer relationship across regions. Though, Thailand is a leading food exporter, it lacks in implementation of blockchain technology. The objective of this study is to analyse the impact of blockchain technology adoption for safe food supply chain management through System Dynamics (SD) approach from management perspectives in Thailand. The preliminary survey and discussion were carried out with the participants from food expert firms, and causal loop diagrams and stock and flow diagrams were developed and validated. The trade-off, challenges and opportunities of applying block chain technology on the global food value supply chain has been discussed throughout the system dynamics model. The major contribution of this work is in providing insight into some of the main dimensions of block chain technology and its implications for global food value chain performance improvements. Nowadays, the space operations environment have to face with space safety problems because of the growing of space debris in resident of space objects (RSOs) that can cause a catastrophic collision. In order to prevent debris-related risks in operational orbit, ground-based passive optical telescope network were used as a primary equipment for space debris observation due to the lowest maintenance costs. Furthermore, in technical, a precise tracking (position and velocity) of space objects can be beneficial towards not only orbit determination but also estimation spacecraft collision probability especially, in Low-Earth Orbit regime. National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) has long experience operate in an observatory to perform both passive & active optical instruments for astrophysics and space sciences missions. In this research, based on Thai National Space objects Observation (TNSO) project, we re-establish the basic understanding of satellite tracking, optical subsystem integration and demonstration a framework so as to enhance the capability of telescope servo control subsystem. We describe the specific solutions adopted for continuous tracking mode and the results obtained during the commissioning of an alt-azimuth mounting equipped with 0.7 meter optical aperture telescope. In the present study, deep learning neural network model has been employed in many engineering problems including heat transfer prediction. The main consideration of this document is to predict the performance of the boiling heat transfer in helical coils under terrestrial gravity conditions and compare with actual experimental data. Total of 877 data sample has been used in the present neural model. Artificial new Neural Network (ANN) model developed in Python environment with Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) using four parameters (helical coils dimensions, mass flow rate, heating power, inlet temperature) and one parameter (outlet temperature) has been used in the input layer and output layer in order. Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm using L2 Regularization to find out the optimal model. A typical feed-forward neural network model composed of three layers, with 30 numbers of neurons in each hidden layer, has been found as optimal based on statistical error analysis. The 4-30-30-1 neural model predicts the characteristics of the helical coil with the accuracy of 98.16 percent in the training stage and 96.68 percent in the testing stage. The result indicated that the proposed ANN model successfully predicts the heat transfer performance in helical coils and can be applied for others operation concerned with heat transfer prediction for future works Full article

In the experiment, the WIG craft—NEW1 of 1:15 scale model is tested in a close circuit wind tunnel of 1 m × 1 m test section at Kasetsart University. The tests are conducted at the free stream velocity of 40 m/s or Reynolds number of 280,000, at angles of attack ranging from −9° to 21°, and at the wing to ground distances ranging from 5.0 C to 0.3 C. The measurement of 6-DoF of forces and moments and pressure distributions on the ground surface underneath the WIG craft model are made during the tests. The results show that the ground has significant effects on the aerodynamic characteristics of the WIG craft model when the wing to ground distance is less than its mean chord. It was found that when the model move from 5.0 C (out of ground effect) to 0.3 C, the lift coefficient increases up to 15.7%, the drag coefficient decreases up to 5.6%, and the lift to drag ratio increases 33.4%. The proximity of the model to the ground also affects the longitudinal stability of the model. The moment coefficient curves against angle of attack has negative slope for both in and out of ground effect indicating favorable longitudinal stability. However, it was found that the aerodynamic center move further aft toward the trailing edge when the model move closer to the ground. Full article

This paper presents an estimation of 3D UAV position in real-time condition by using Intel RealSense Depth camera D435i with visual object detection technique as a local positioning system for indoor environment. Nowadays, global positioning system or GPS is able to specify UAV position for outdoor environment. However, for indoor environment GPS hasn’t a capability to determine UAV position. Therefore, Depth stereo camera D435i is proposed to observe on ground to specify UAV position for indoor environment instead of GPS. Using deep learning for object detection to identify target object with depth camera to specifies 2D position of target object. In addition, depth position is estimated by stereo camera and target size. For experiment, Parrot Bebop2 as a target object is detected by using YOLOv3 as a real-time object detection system. However, trained Fully Convolutional Neural Networks (FCNNs) model is considerably significant for object detection, thus the model has been trained for bebop2 only. To conclude, this proposed system is able to specifies 3D position of bebop2 for indoor environment. For future work, this research will be developed and apply for visualized navigation control of drone swarm. Full article

The angle of attack (AOA) is an important parameter for estimating aerodynamic parameter the performance and stability of aircraft. Currently, AOA sensors are used in general aircraft. However, there is no a reasonable-price AOA sensor that is compatible to a small fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This research aims to designs and constructs angle of attract (AOA) sensor for small fixed-wing unmanned aircraft. Mechanism Design, which is similar to aerodynamic wheatear vane, can operate in airspeed 10–30 m/s. The direction of airfoil aligns with the air flow direction. When the AOA of the UAV changes, the air flow changes the direction, resulting in the change of airfoil direction. The high-resolution rotary encoder, that was used to measure the angle of the airfoil, was installed with the fin airfoil. For experiment, the accuracy of the AOA sensor was validated by comparing the angles obtained from the encoder with the standard rotary table in static and wind tunnel. Finally, the AOA sensor, which was attached on aircraft, was verified and recorded in flight test. As the results of the measurement, the airfoil angles detected by the encoder were in good agreement with the standard angles. Full article

Smart factory is a fully-integrated of firm’s facilities (i.e., sensors, smart machines, and robots) and information system architecture (i.e., IoT, ICT, and cloud computing) to enable high degree of automation in manufacturing processes. IT knowledge capability is the IT knowledge organization that how employees understand IT knowledge in different dimensions, i.e., general management, product design, production planning, data analysis, information security, and automation system. Since the system of smart factory depends on the massive of data collecting (big data) and the firm’s advance analyzing approach (analytics). The big data in manufacturing include the data from production planning, quality control, procurement, inventory control, human resource management (HRM), and delivery. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of IT knowledge capability and big data and analytics on the degree of smart factory. Survey data from 141 Thai manufacturing firms from the list of the ministry of industry and industrial zones were collected during March–April 2019. The multiple regression result shows that both IT knowledge capability and big data and analytics have a positive impact on the degree of smart factory. In addition, we use a firm’s age and firm’s size (based on the number of employees and total asset) as control variables. The results show that firm’s size have a positive effect on hypothesis model. Peridynamic theory has recently shown to be a versatile tool for simulating complex phenomena related to the fracture and fragmentation of structural and composite materials. We introduce a novel failure criterion based on the classic stress tensor which takes inspiration from an approach proposed in the literature. Differently from the classic critical stretch-based failure criterion used in peridynamics, our approach takes into account the total elastic energy stored in the bond allowing to predict with more accuracy problems that involve mixed-mode I-II fracture. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed failure criterion, a benchmark fracture problem is analyzed showing a good agreement with the experimental results and the numerical results obtained with other numerical methods. Since the aviation industry is acknowledged as the male-dominated filed, the existence of female pilots in the cockpit has long been controversial over decades. However, it is revealed by many aviation organizations that the number of women pilots has been growing constantly recently. Several studies have been conducted to explore female pilots’ perspective towards the existing gender bias in the aviation field in the global scale. Meanwhile in Thailand, there is the scarcity of studies on the similar topic, especially perspectives towards the factors and motivations driving female pilot to enter the aviation industry in Thailand. This study purposes to investigate the perspectives of female student pilots, a female pilot and a male pilot towards the negative gender stereotypes in the pilot profession in Thai context. A mixed-method questionnaire was conducted to collect data by having two main approaches: a Likert-scale and close-ended questionnaire and the semi-structured interview from eight participants including six female student pilots (FSP), one female professional pilot (FP) and one male professional pilot (MP). The results yielded from all female participants revealed that gender prejudice still exists in the industry, which resulted in female pilots having to prove themselves and their skills set to be accepted in both the training duration and working period. However, all participants all opine that the aviation industry has recently seen the lesser degree of sexual bias towards female pilots and the positive trend of more female pilots stepping into this male-dominated field. This study is a simulation of the evacuation of the passengers from the Airbus A330-300 aircraft and the objective is the efficient evaluation of passenger evacuation and to find the most efficient evacuation format. The Pathfinder simulation program is used for this study. The study is divide into two parts. The first scenario of the evacuation from the aircraft is using all exit doors simulated in 4 formats of evacuation tests as follows: Format (1) evacuate freely. Format (2) evacuate divided by area. Format (3) evacuate which passengers are determined to evacuate to the nearest exit door. Format (4) evacuate which the number of passengers evacuating via each exit door is equal. The result of the simulations indicated that the evacuation times were 50.9, 79.4, 50.6, and 58.6 s, respectively. The most efficient evacuation was format 3 and insignificantly different from format 1. The second scenario is the evacuation which 1 left-side exit door is unavailable and is simulated in format 1–4 as same as the first scenario. The shortest time of the evacuation with exit door 1L, 2L, 3L, and 4L unavailable were 51.3, 58.5, 62.6 and 59.3 s, respectively. The most efficient format for the evacuation with exit door 1L unavailable was format 1 and 3 while format 1 was the best for the evacuation with any left-side exit door unavailable. Accumulation and density of passengers in the cabin were analyzed and evacuation formats were adjusted by seat row for finding the shortest evacuation period. The adjusted format was simulated again and the evacuation times with door 1L or door 4L unavailable can be slightly decreased and the times were 49.3 and 59.0 s. The simulation of these two scenarios found that the best way to use for the aircraft evacuation is to evacuate freely. Full article

This paper presents a dynamic simulation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) moving on a launcher. The UAV launcher consists of a metal rail that is positioned at a launch angle, a spring and a winch to be able to stretch the spring. Prior to launch the spring is stretched into necessary tension and secured with safety pins, then released to launch the UAV. The influence of aerodynamic lift and drag forces on the mathematical model of a UAV will be considered in detail. Mathematical model a UAV moving on a launcher represented by differential equations are solved using a MATLAB software. The results of calculations are represented by a graph which shows distance, velocity and acceleration of a UAV while moving on a launcher as a function of time. Full article
