Cover Story: The main purpose of this paper is to study unicyclic graphs that minimize the Graovac–Ghorbani index, a topological descriptor that has predictive potential compared to analogous descriptors and is used to model both the boiling point and melting point of molecules. The problem of maximizing the Graovac–Ghorbani index of unicyclic graphs was solved in 2013, while the minimization problem is currently still unsolved. This research shows that cycles are the unicyclic graphs with even girth that minimize Graovac–Ghorbani index. In the case of odd girth, partial results were given, pointing to cycles as well. As an auxiliary result, Graovac–Ghorbani indices of paths and cycles with an odd number of vertices were compared. View this paper
