Cover Story: High-sulfidation epithermal Au ± Ag–Cu deposits occur in volcanic arcs around the world. In this study, we demonstrate that their common ore and alteration mineral assemblages, such as the enargite–pyrite–quartz hydrothermal breccia ore at the Mt Carlton deposit in Australia (photo), can host significant enrichment in Ge, Ga and In. These findings may assist in the evaluation of high-sulfidation epithermal deposits as potential sources for these critical elements, and in the development of efficient ore processing methods during recovery.
