Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript contains an interesting solution for sustainability of the geographical area closest to the protected natural area. Authors defined relationships between three dimensions: economic, social, and life quality.

The manuscript’s strengths:

The manuscript is informative and good structured. The introduction provides sufficient background and includes sufficient references. The methods are well described.

The manuscript’s weaknesses:

1. There are no clear defining the main research aim in introduction.

2. It is not clear what is the difference between hypothesis 1 and hypothesis 2 (lines 173-176).

This is an interesting piece of work. However, literature need to be updated and integration more contemporary sources could enrich the quality of paper. I would suggest following studies about economic and environmental perceptions of tourism as well as quality of life:

Configurational models to predict residents’ support for tourism development. Journal of Travel Research56(7), 893-912. Doi:1177/0047287516667850. Environmental Impacts of Mass Religious Tourism: From Residents’’ perspective. Tourism Analysis, 22(2), 167-183. Doi: 3727/108354217X14888192562285. Different Voices from Community Groups to Support Sustainable Tourism Development at Iranian World Heritage Sites: Evidence from Bisotun. Journal of Sustainable Tourism. 26(10), 1728-1748. Doi:1080/09669582.2018.1511718. Pro-tourism and anti-tourism community groups: Recipes for support tourism development and its negation in a world heritage site in Turkey, Current Issues in Tourism. 22(7), 763-785. Doi: 1080/13683500.2017.1329281.

Key drawback of this study is lack of theory in supporting proposed model. Author/s may use above research to apply a relevant theory.

Discuss common method bias. Check normality test of data.

In terms of presentation, I would suggest presenting full title of factors on the model, alternatively abbreviation could be introduced as note/legend of figure.

Statistics for fit validity of both measurement model and research model should be reported.

Practical implications are generic; more insightful recommendations should be developed based on the results of study.

Authors have addressed my comments satisfactory. There are a couple of minor formatting errors in the reference that might be amended during the proof and publication process. Congratulations.
