Cover Story: Metabolic disorders, including diabetes mellitus and obesity, are independent predictors of atrial fibrillation and therapeutic targets to reduce its burden. New evidence suggests that atrial fibrillation and cognitive impairment may be downstream events of atrial cardiomyopathy, which may be caused by several factors, including metabolic syndrome and obesity. This review examines the role of metabolic comorbidities in the pathogenesis of cognitive impairment in atrial fibrillation View Paper here.
