Security and Privacy Preservation in Cyber–Physical Systems

Dear Colleagues,

Cyber–physical systems (CPSs) represent the convergence of digital intelligence and physical processes, enabling intelligent operations across a wide range of sectors, particularly in critical infrastructure domains such as smart grids, smart healthcare, transportation, and industrial automation. By integrating diverse technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, data analytics, and advanced sensors, CPSs have transformed how industries operate and manage resources. While such integration enhances operational efficiency, it simultaneously exposes CPSs to increasing risks, including cyber threats, data breaches, and unauthorised access.

The growing adoption of AI-driven technologies to optimise CPS performance further raises concerns regarding data privacy, transparency, and ethical implications. Safeguarding the security and privacy of CPSs remains an ongoing challenge due to the dynamic and sector-specific nature of threats, the evolving threat landscape, and the continuous advancement of the systems themselves.

This Special Issue seeks to present cutting-edge research and practices that address these pressing challenges. It welcomes both comprehensive literature reviews and innovative technical contributions that propose novel methods, technologies, processes, and tools for enhancing CPS security and privacy

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
