Big Data Analytics and Internet of Things for Sensor Application

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The convergence of Big Data Analytics and the Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing sensor-driven systems across industries. This Special Issue explores how massive, heterogeneous sensor data—generated from smart environments, industrial systems, healthcare platforms, and autonomous vehicles—can be harnessed through advanced analytics, machine learning, and cloud-edge architectures. We invite contributions that address the full lifecycle of sensor data: from acquisition and transmission to intelligent processing, real-time decision-making, and secure deployment.

Topics include scalable data mining, federated learning, and multimodal fusion for sensor networks; IoT middleware and protocols for seamless integration; and novel frameworks for predictive maintenance, remote diagnostics, and smart city infrastructure. Emphasis is placed on interpretable, energy-efficient, and privacy-preserving solutions that push the boundaries of sensor intelligence.

This Special Issue is affiliated with the 10th International Conference on Big Data and Internet of Things (BDIOT 2026), creating a synergistic platform for academic and industrial researchers to showcase cutting-edge innovations.

The selected high-quality papers that fit Sensors’ scope from the BDIOT 2026 conference will be invited to submit extended versions of their original papers.

Selected papers will benefit from high visibility and cross-disciplinary impact in the rapidly evolving sensor ecosystem.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
