Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global cryosphere plays a fundamental role in regulating Earth's climate and evolving sea levels. Remote sensing technologies—including optical, LiDAR, SAR, and InSAR—provide unparalleled capabilities for large-scale, long-term monitoring of glaciers, ice sheets, sea ice, permafrost, and seasonal snow. Recent advances in multi-sensor fusion, high-resolution satellite missions, and AI-enhanced geophysical inversion have significantly improved our understanding of cryospheric processes and their response to climate forcing.
This Special Issue aims to gather innovative research on cryosphere remote sensing, including methodological developments, novel applications, and emerging challenges. Topics of interest include glacier dynamics, ice mass balance, sea ice classification, permafrost deformation, snow cover retrieval, and next-generation cryosphere monitoring techniques.
We welcome the submission of original research articles, technical notes, reviews, and dataset papers.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Remote Sensing is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
