Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue is focused on the variety of dominant ways in which the Bible is understood as authoritative and used as such in Christian theology and practice. Avery Dulles, S.J., considered this a key element in discerning the complexity of Christian theological declarations and liturgical expressions (Models of Revelation, 1983), and David Baker explored it as foundational when connecting biblical theology to theological presuppositions and moral practices (Two Testaments, One Bible: The Theological Relationship Between the Old and New Testaments, 2010). Two issues are immediately apparent as foci for articles in this study:

(1) How does the Christian Bible function as authoritative scripture (e.g., theologically, liturgically, morally, revelationally)?

(2) What is the relationship between the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament and the New Testament (priorities, influences, supersession, etc.)?

Other related topics are also encouraged.
