Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

1. Introduction

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the Special Issue “Advances in Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics of Energy Systems”. The increasing global demand for efficient and sustainable energy systems has intensified research into advanced thermal and fluid processes. Fundamental and applied studies on heat transfer enhancement, fluid flow optimization, and energy system modeling are crucial to improving the performance and reliability of power generation, renewable energy, and industrial systems. Recent developments in experimental methods, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-physics simulations have opened new pathways to analyze and optimize complex thermal–fluid systems.

2. Aim of the Special Issue

This Special Issue aims to bring together innovative research and comprehensive reviews that advance the understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics phenomena in energy systems. Contributions that align with the journal Processes—particularly those emphasizing process optimization, system modeling, and simulation in energy applications—are highly encouraged. The collection will showcase both theoretical and practical developments, fostering collaboration between academia and industry in energy system innovation.

3. Suggested Themes and Article Types

In this Special Issue, original research articles and comprehensive reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Heat transfer enhancement techniques in energy systems
  • Multiphase and turbulent flows in thermal systems
  • Advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling
  • Thermal management in renewable and conventional energy plants
  • Flow and heat transfer in micro/nano systems for energy applications
  • Energy system optimization using simulation and machine learning
  • Experimental methods in heat transfer and fluid mechanics
  • Fluid–structure interaction and thermal stresses in energy devices
  • Thermofluid analysis of energy storage systems
  • Integration of digital twins and AI in energy system simulations

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
