Functional Polymer Coating: From Preparation to Application

Dear Colleagues,

Functional polymer coatings (FPCs) are very interesting because they can be capable of adapting their properties dynamically to an external stimulus. Compared with conventional polymeric coatings, FPCs exhibit not only mechanical properties but also functional properties. The FPCs can be designed and prepared in many ways, such as by incorporating stimuli-responsive materials (light, pH, pressure, temperature, etc.). They have become an important cornerstone of modern industry and technology.

This Special Issue of the open access journal Polymers aims at collecting cutting-edge original research papers and reviews on the topic of functional polymer coatings as follows (but is not limited to these topics solely).

• Shape-memory polymer coatings;
• Self-healing polymer coatings;
• Stimuli-responsive polymer coatings；
• Sustainable, bio-based functional polymer coatings;

We also look forward to receiving publications describing synthetic applications of functional polymer coatings.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
