Dear Colleagues,
The Special Issue on “Natural Compounds and Extracts Loaded into Advanced Delivery Platforms” aims to provide a broad and inclusive forum for interdisciplinary research at the interface of natural product science and advanced delivery technologies. Natural extracts and phytochemicals represent an exceptionally rich and structurally diverse source of bioactive compounds with a wide spectrum of potential biological and therapeutic activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, anticancer, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, immunomodulatory, metabolic-regulating, and wound-healing effects, among others. Their multifaceted pharmacological profiles make natural compounds attractive candidates for applications across many areas of medicine, pharmacy, and health sciences.
Despite their promise, the translation of natural bioactives into effective products is often hampered by physicochemical and biopharmaceutical limitations, including poor solubility, low stability, rapid metabolism, and limited bioavailability. Advanced delivery technologies offer versatile solutions to overcome these barriers. A wide range of formulation and carrier strategies can be explored in this Special Issue, including lipid-based nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, polymeric micelles, nanoemulsions, nanogels, nanofibers, hydrogels, polymeric capsules, nanocapsules, mesoporous nanoparticles, cyclodextrin-based carriers, polymer–drug conjugates, extracellular vesicles, and hybrid lipid–polymer delivery systems.
This Special Issue welcomes original research articles and reviews covering fundamental, applied, and translational aspects of natural compounds and extract-loaded delivery systems. Contributions from diverse fields, including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, functional foods, cosmetics, wound care, pediatrics, personalized medicine, and related areas, are strongly encouraged. By maintaining a wide thematic scope, this Special Issue seeks to stimulate cross-disciplinary exchange and highlight innovative strategies that advance the development of natural bioactive-based therapeutic and health-promoting products.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Pharmaceuticals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
