Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Spine deformity represents a complex and evolving field within musculoskeletal and neurological disorders, affecting both pediatric and adult populations with significant clinical, functional, and socioeconomic implications. Over the past decades, advances in diagnostic imaging, biomechanical understanding, surgical techniques, and perioperative management have substantially improved patient outcomes. Nevertheless, spine deformity treatment remains challenging due to patient heterogeneity, increasing surgical complexity, and the need for multidisciplinary decision-making.

This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of current advances in the management of spine deformity, covering both conservative and surgical strategies. The scope of the Special Issue aligns with the journal Medicina by integrating clinical research, translational studies, and evidence-based approaches that support personalized patient care.

We welcome cutting-edge research focusing on novel surgical techniques, minimally invasive and hybrid approaches, alignment and balance optimization, complication prevention, outcomes assessment, and the role of emerging technologies such as navigation, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Particular attention will be given to adult spinal deformity, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, revision surgery, and multidisciplinary perioperative management.

This Special Issue invites original research articles, systematic reviews, narrative reviews, and selected clinical studies that contribute to advancing knowledge and improving clinical practice in spine deformity care.

We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Medicina is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
