Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue in Machines aims to provide a dedicated forum for publishing the latest advancements in energy storage systems for electric mobility, encompassing both road vehicles and maritime applications. As the energy storage field evolves rapidly, battery technologies continue to dominate the market, with significant innovations in lithium-based systems, solid-state batteries, sodium-ion technologies, and hybrid configurations such as multi-chemistry battery packs or integrated energy storage systems. Alongside these technological developments, growing research efforts focus on system-level performance, scalability, safety, and integration into various mobility platforms. This Special Issue invites high-quality contributions that explore both fundamental and applied aspects of these innovations.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Integration of energy storage technologies for electric vehicles (EVs) and maritime applications.
  2. Multi-chemistry and hybrid energy storage systems for EVs.
  3. Advanced energy management strategies for performance, longevity, and safety.
  4. Monitoring, diagnostics, and fault detection of energy storage systems in EV drivetrains.
  5. Battery accessories and supporting technologies, including the following:
    • Battery Management Systems (BMS).
    • Cooling and thermal management solutions.
    • Charging infrastructure (wired and wireless).

We encourage researchers from both academia and industry to submit their latest findings. If you are unsure whether your work fits within the scope of this Special Issue, please feel free to contact the Guest Editors for clarification.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Machines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
