Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Physical inactivity is a major public health challenge, contributing to chronic diseases, mental health disorders, and premature mortality. Despite widespread awareness of the benefits of regular physical activity, many individuals remain sedentary due to a complex interplay of physiological, psychological, social, economic, and environmental factors. Addressing this challenge requires more than information, it demands evidence-based, interdisciplinary, and multifaceted strategies that support sustainable behavior change and promote the integration of movement into daily routines.
With this Special Issue, we aim to explore innovative strategies and interdisciplinary approaches to increase physical activity in sedentary populations across diverse age groups and settings. We welcome submissions exploring, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Exercise physiology in sedentary populations;
- Behavioral frameworks that promote sustainable lifestyle changes in sedentary populations;
- Exercise approaches and program design for sedentary populations across the lifespan;
- The effect of physical activity and exercise programs on the health of sedentary populations;
- The role of technology and wearables in monitoring and motivating movement in sedentary populations.
We seek to promote cutting-edge research and effective methodologies that advance our understanding of how to create active, health-promoting initiatives that are specifically tailored for sedentary populations. We are also interested in exploring novel devices and digital tools that assist individuals in overcoming sedentary habits and integrating movement into daily life.
