Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Worldwide, the rate of PTSD has more than doubled within the last decade. Contributing factors may explain the rate increase for specific regions and populations, however, this matter warrants comprehensive explanation in the context of our neurobiological understanding of resilience, PTSD versus other mental disorders. Increased prevalence amplifies the treatment challenges for PTSD. For centuries, the only treatments with evidence were individualized trauma focused psychotherapies and limited pharmacotherapies. In 2023, the US FDA approved a biofeedback device for adjunctive treatment of PTSD, but there is limited implementation data is published. This issue welcomes manuscripts explaining the current challenges of PTSD globally or in specific regions. Additionally, the issue welcomes approaches to treat individuals suffering from PTSD. Methods to increase resilience to PTSD (primary prevention), and preventing the advancement of PTSD and complications from PTSD are also welcome (secondary and tertiary prevention).
