Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Fetal medicine is a rapidly evolving field that continues to surprise us with new discoveries and expanding possibilities. Despite major advances in prenatal diagnosis and care, significant challenges remain. Preterm birth continues to be a leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide, and maternal complications such as preeclampsia still result in preventable loss of life. These ongoing challenges highlight the need for continuous research, innovation, and collaboration in order to improve outcomes for mothers and their babies.
At the same time, we are witnessing the growing integration of artificial intelligence into our daily clinical practice, from emergency departments to delivery rooms and ultrasound units. While this development raises understandable concerns among clinicians about the future of the profession, it also offers important opportunities. Skilled hands and clinical judgment will always be essential in obstetrics, whether in performing a careful fetal scan, managing labor, or carrying out complex procedures. The real challenge lies in learning how to use these technologies wisely to enhance our capabilities, improve efficiency, and extend high-quality care to underserved populations and to a greater number of patients.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate recent advances related to fetal diagnosis, prenatal imaging, and innovative approaches in fetal care. We will consider contributions addressing clinical practice, emerging technologies, and research focused on improving maternal and fetal outcomes.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Advances in prenatal imaging and fetal ultrasound;
- Artificial intelligence in obstetrics and fetal medicine;
- Early detection and management of fetal anomalies;
- Preterm birth: prediction, prevention, and management;
- Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and their impact on the fetus;
- Innovations in fetal therapy and intervention.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
