Advancements in Virtual Reality and Computational Geometry in Computer Science

In recent years, the convergence of Virtual Reality (VR) and Computational Geometry has opened new avenues for research and innovation across multiple computer science domains. From immersive simulations and 3D modeling to spatial analysis and real-time rendering, the interplay between geometric computation and VR technologies shapes the future of human–computer interaction, intelligent systems, and digital environments.

This Special Issue aims to bring together high-quality, original research that explores novel methodologies, algorithms, and applications of Virtual Reality and Computational Geometry. We invite contributions that address theoretical foundations, practical implementations, and interdisciplinary applications, focusing on emerging fields such as immersive analytics, augmented cognition, autonomous systems, and educational technologies.

Submissions may cover, but are not limited to, topics such as real-time geometric processing for VR environments, mesh simplification and reconstruction, collision detection, motion planning, spatial data structures, VR-based visualization of complex datasets, and user-centric design principles. We are especially interested in papers demonstrating how computational geometry can enhance the performance, realism, and usability of virtual and augmented experiences.

By highlighting recent advancements and innovative approaches, this Special Issue seeks to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue and serve as a platform for disseminating cutting-edge research. Contributions from both academia and industry are welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Information is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
