Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Brassica crops, including vegetables, oilseeds, and condiments, are crucial for global food security and sustainable agriculture. Climate change, however, brings significant challenges, causing abiotic stresses like drought, heat, and salinity, as well as biotic threats such as clubroot disease. These stressors lead to substantial yield losses, exceeding 30–50% in vulnerable agroecosystems. To tackle these problems, advanced technologies are transforming Brassica research. CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, for instance, allows for the precise modification of stress-responsive genes and metabolic pathways, boosting stress resilience without reducing yield.

This Special Issue focuses on the latest advances in Brassica crop development and stress adaptation. It welcomes submissions on topics like germplasm resources and breeding to harness genetic diversity for trait improvement, the molecular biology of key biological traits to understand gene functions, resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses to identify resistance genes, and precision breeding tools such as CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing and marker-assisted selection.
