Foods 2023 Young Investigator Award—Winner Announced


We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Foods 2023 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Raúl González-Domínguez.

Dr. Raúl González-Domínguez is the Principal Investigator of the “Metabolomics & Bioanalysis” research group at the Biomedical Research and Innovation Institute of Cadiz (INiBICA), Cadiz, Spain.

His research interests are focused on developing, applying, and integrating mass spectrometry-based omics approaches, including metabolomics and metallomics, in biomedicine, epidemiology, and nutrition. In particular, he has great experience investigating the molecular mechanisms behind the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline, obesity, and other cardiometabolic diseases. Dr. Raúl González-Domínguez received his Ph.D. in 2015, and has published 93 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, 11 book chapters, most often as the first author (54) or corresponding author (45), and edited three books. Dr. Raúl González-Domínguez’s Scopus Scientific Citations number is 2516, and his Hirsch index is 29. He is a rising star in food science and technology, and has secured funding of more than 3 million EUR since 2019. This is an outstanding achievement in today’s competitive environment. As the awardee, Dr. Raúl González-Domínguez will receive an honorarium of CHF 2000, an offer to publish a paper free of charge before 31 December 2023 in Foods (ISSN: 2304-8158) after peer review, and an electronic certificate.
