Dear Colleagues,
Marine invertebrates represent a major component of global ocean biodiversity and play critical ecological roles in marine food webs, ecosystem functioning, nutrient cycling, and the provision of ecosystem services. Nevertheless, many threatened marine invertebrates remain poorly studied, with substantial information gaps concerning life history, population status, distribution, habitat characteristics, and responses to environmental and climatic change. The limited availability of population assessments, together with uneven geographic and taxonomic coverage of conservation research, continues to constrain effective conservation planning and management for marine invertebrates.
This Special Issue aims to advance understanding of the ecological processes, population dynamics, habitat configuration, major threats, and conservation challenges affecting threatened marine invertebrates across diverse marine and coastal ecosystems. We welcome contributions addressing biodiversity, population structure, distribution, species–habitat relationships, climatic/anthropogenic-driven pressures, monitoring and assessment approaches, conservation genetics, habitat restoration, and evidence-based management. By integrating ecological research with emerging conservation approaches, this Special Issue seeks to identify key gaps in knowledge and baseline data, promote standardized and innovative methodologies, and strengthen the scientific basis for the effective conservation of threatened marine invertebrates and their habitats.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Fishes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
