Recent Advances in Superconducting Quantum Computing

This special issue belongs to the section “Quantum Information“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the last few years, considerable strides have been made in enhancing the controllability, scalability, and coherence of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices based on superconducting qubits. The quantum circuits, consisting of 50–500 superconducting qubits, provide a promising platform to perform NISQ computation and simulation, which have potential to demonstrate beyond-classical computation.

With these advancements, several novel phenomena emerging in out-of-equilibrium dynamics of quantum many-body systems, such as quantum thermalization and ergodicity breaking, have been observed. Moreover, alongside the variational quantum algorithms, NISQ computers based on superconducting qubits can provide valuable insights into the field of quantum chemistry. Other applications of superconducting qubits include the generation of genuine entanglement and quantum error correction.

This Special Issue aims to be a forum for the presentation of recent developments of quantum computation and simulation based on superconducting qubits, and will accept unpublished original papers and comprehension reviews on the following research areas:

  • Technical developments of superconducting qubits and circuits;
  • Quantum computation and quantum advantage based on superconducting qubits;
  • Quantum simulation and many-body quantum dynamics based on superconducting qubits;
  • Quantum error corrections based on superconducting qubits;
  • Variational quantum algorithms and quantum chemistry based on superconducting qubits;
  • Generation of entanglement by using superconducting qubits.

Both experimental and theoretical works are welcomed for the Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Entropy is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
