Section Information
The Unmanned Surface and Underwater Drones section is devoted to the latest advancements, research, and practical applications of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). This section aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing a platform for authors to share their discoveries, innovations, and insights in various domains, such as the following:
- Design and development of unmanned surface and underwater drone systems, including propulsion, navigation, and control;
- Communication and networking technologies for both surface and underwater environments, enabling reliable data transmission and coordination among drones;
- Advanced sensing, geophysical, and imaging technologies for surface and underwater exploration, monitoring, and mapping;
- Environmental monitoring, marine biology research, and oceanographic studies utilizing unmanned surface and/or underwater drones for data collection and analysis;
- Offshore infrastructure inspection and maintenance using unmanned surface and/or underwater vehicles;
- Autonomous and intelligent unmanned surface and underwater drone systems, including AI and machine learning applications;
- Maritime safety, security, and surveillance applications of unmanned surface and underwater drones.
By presenting the most recent developments in unmanned surface and underwater drones, this section seeks to encourage collaboration among researchers and professionals and contribute to the responsible and sustainable exploration, management, and understanding of our oceans and water bodies.
