12–20 November 2025 Interactive Online Course: Basics in Dermatopathology

Muenster, Germany

Dieter Metze, Stephan A. Braun

The microscopic examination of skin biopsies requires specific pathological knowledge and experience. Digital pathology makes it possible to organize an interactive online course. By dividing the course into four half-days, colleagues around the world can be reached across time zones for 3,5 hours a day. After introductory lectures and demonstrations, annotated slides and the manuscript can be studied independently.

Target audience:
Residents and fellows in dermatopathology;
Specialists in dermatology and pathology.

Main topics:
Principles of dermatohistological diagnosis, basic dermatopathological terms, structured instructions for the diagnosis of inflammatory dermatoses and cutaneous tumors.
Emphasis on dermatopathological patterns, criteria, and clues; diagnostic algorithms and differential diagnosis; and communication with clinicians (clinical–pathological correlation).

Course benefits:
Introduction to the principles of dermatopathological diagnosis and demonstration of educational cases via Zoom with live discussions. Access to over 400 annotated digital slides with explanations of the key features (including special stains and immunohistochemistry) via our educational online platform for two months (example: http://dermpath.smartzoom.com/s5511/).
